How Our Process Works

  • The first step for all projects is an on-site consultation. We will meet at your site to discuss your vision, goals, opportunities, and constraints. This meeting also provides us with the opportunity to review the site so that we can provide an accurate fee for the design.

  • For a Landscape Master Plan the next step is to prepare a digital base drawing that will be used as the basis for the design. To complete this step we collect data from online sources and complete detailed measurements on-site. All of this information is compiled into a CAD drawing of your yard.

  • Once base information has been collected the fun part can start! At this stage we will begin to create rough concepts for your project. We will develop one or more concepts to explore a direction for the design. The goal of this process is to agree on a design direction before adding more detail.

  • Once the concept is approved we move forward with the final Landscape Master Plan. This drawing is provided as a black & white CAD plan in digital pdf format. This plan includes details for materials, plants, and design elements to allow contractors to compile accurate bids.

  • Once you have received the final Landscape Master Plan you will want to seek out bids from licensed contractors. When appropriate we will provide recommendations for installers we have worked with previously. Although Eighty-Eight Acres does not provide installation services we can still assist you with the construction process. We can provide Construction Observation services such as: reviewing bids, answering contractor questions, reviewing work in the field, plant selection, and plant placement.

Our Phoenix Projects

What our Clients Say.

Meet Kaylee

As a fourth generation Arizonan, I uncovered my passion for landscape architecture while earning my BSLA at Arizona State University in 2010. Working on the Sustainable SITES Initiative documentation for George “Doc” Cavalliere Park, the first SITES certified project in Arizona, inspired me to continue learning about sustainable design. Since then I have earned my MSc in Sustainable Horticulture and certification as a WMG Certified Rainwater Harvesting Practitioner. I started Eighty-Eight Acres in 2018 to help bring that expertise to residential clients.

Like any good Taurus, I am a home body and you will often find me at Eighty-Eight Acres home base working on projects or spending time with my family.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We provide in-person services to most cities in the Phoenix metropolitan area. This includes but is not limited to: Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Mesa, Peoria, Phoenix, Queen Creek, Scottsdale, Surprise, and Tempe.

Outside of this area we are open to discussing in-person or virtual services to meet your needs. Never hesitate to reach out and see if we can work together.

  • We don’t offer free consultations, but the consultation fee includes a lot of value. You’ll receive an hour of expert, tailored advice plus a site plan with notes from our discussion. Many clients find this session alone gives them a solid starting point. Best of all, the fee isn’t an extra cost—whatever you invest is fully applied to any future design services you choose to move forward with.

  • At Eighty-Eight Acres, we design every yard with the environment in mind. By making simple, smart changes—like capturing rainwater, planting pollinator gardens, or using organic mulch to build soil—we help reconnect your landscape with the local ecosystem. We see each project as part of a bigger picture, aiming to boost its long-term function and health. Every property is different, so we find the sustainable solutions that fit you best and make it easy to bring the design to life.

  • Eighty-Eight Acres specializes in design only, but we’re happy to refer trusted installers. This approach gives you a custom plan tailored to your goals—not an installer’s preferences. It also lets you compare bids and choose the best fit for your budget. Our designs are truly independent and unique, offering a level of creativity and flexibility you won’t always find with design/build contractors.
